I'm just curious why this doesn't work. Why doesn't the program exit when exit menu is clicked. What am I doing wrong?

#include
#include

#Region ### START Koda GUI section ### Form=
$Form1 = GUICreate("Form1", 221, 173, 192, 114)
$exit = GUICtrlCreateMenu("Exit")
GUISetState(@SW_SHOW)
#EndRegion ### END Koda GUI section ###

While 1
     $nMsg = GUIGetMsg()
     Switch $nMsg
         Case $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE
             Exit
         Case $exit
             ;This doesn't get called
             Exit
     EndSwitch
WEnd

You are not using a MenuItem so GUIGetMsg doesn't get nothing. Create a menu item and all will work good:

#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>

#region ### START Koda GUI section ### Form=
$Form1 = GUICreate("Form1", 221, 173, 192, 114)
$Menu = GUICtrlCreateMenu("File")
$Menu_Exit = GUICtrlCreateMenuItem("Exit", $Menu)

GUISetState(@SW_SHOW)
#endregion ### END Koda GUI section ###

While 1
    $nMsg = GUIGetMsg()
    Switch $nMsg
        Case $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE
            Exit
        Case $Menu_Exit
            Exit
    EndSwitch
WEnd

aleksa,

You need a MenuItem in the menu: ;)

#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>

#Region ### START Koda GUI section ### Form=
$Form1 = GUICreate("Form1", 221, 173, 192, 114)
$Menu = GUICtrlCreateMenu("Exit")
$mExit = GUICtrlCreateMenuItem("Exit", $Menu) ; <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
GUISetState(@SW_SHOW)
#EndRegion ### END Koda GUI section ###

While 1
     $nMsg = GUIGetMsg()
     Switch $nMsg
          Case $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE, $mExit ; Note multiple controls <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
               Exit
     EndSwitch
WEnd

Somewhere I once did manage to get a menu to fire directly - I will see if I can find it.:)

aleksa,

Found it - but it is probably too complex for your needs, so I suggest using a MenuItem as I suggested above: ;)

#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>
#Include <GuiMenu.au3>

$hGUI = GUICreate("Test", 500, 500)

$mFilemenu = GUICtrlCreateMenu("File")
$mExititem = GUICtrlCreateMenuItem("Exit", $mFilemenu)
$mSpecialitem = GUICtrlCreateMenu("Special")
$mHelpmenu = GUICtrlCreateMenu("?")
$mAboutitem = GUICtrlCreateMenuItem("About", $mHelpmenu)

GUISetState()

$hMenu = _GUICtrlMenu_GetMenu($hGUI)
$iCount = _GUICtrlMenu_GetItemCount($hMenu) - 1

GUIRegisterMsg(0x0211,"_WM_ENTERMENULOOP") ; WM_ENTERMENULOOP

While 1

    Switch GUIGetMsg()
        Case $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE, $mExititem
            Exit
        Case $mAboutitem
            MsgBox(0, "Solved", "That was hard work!")
    EndSwitch

WEnd

Func _WM_ENTERMENULOOP($hWnd, $iMsg, $wParam, $lParam)

    For $i = 0 To $iCount

        Local $tRect = _GUICtrlMenu_GetItemRectEx($hGUI, $hMenu, $i)
        Local $aMousePos = MouseGetPos()
        Local $aRes = DllCall("User32.dll", "int", "PtInRect", "ptr", DllStructGetPtr($tRect), "int", $aMousePos[0], "int", $aMousePos[1])
        If Not @error And $aRes[0] Then
            ConsoleWrite("You clicked: " & _GUICtrlMenu_GetItemText($hMenu, $i) & @CRLF)
            ExitLoop
        EndIf

    Next

EndFunc

Note that clicking a menu is a modal operation - so you will need to click again to reactivate the script after having clicked a menu with no items. ;)

      ciao
      I have a Delphi compiled program that I use for work and I can read some logs with this function:
      Func __ReadExternalListBox() Local $hListBox, $iItemCount $hListBox = ControlGetHandle("Software Setup", "", "[CLASS:TListBox; INSTANCE:1]") ConsoleWrite("$hListBox = " & $hListBox & @CRLF) $iItemCount = _GUICtrlListBox_GetCount($hListBox) For $i = $iStart To $iItemCount - 1 ConsoleWrite(GUICtrlListBox_GetText($hListBox,$i) & @CRLF) Next EndFunc ;==>__ReadExternalListBox I can find pid and full path of the process.
      The problem is when I must open another process: I can't read the new ListBox because the title of the window to read is the same and the function
      $hListBox = ControlGetHandle("Software Setup", "", "[CLASS:TListBox; INSTANCE:1]") return me only one handle.
      With Autoinfo I can read handle: is, for this instance, 0x0001099C and is $hListBox

      But I need to automize some function and I can't always change in runtime this values.
      Ideas? Is there e method to read this title windows associated to a determined pid?
      PS:
      I don't need the handle from the pid windows application, but from its control
      if I use
      _WinAPI_EnumProcessWindows() the function return me window handle, not Control handle
      I
      In this case Windows Handle is 0x001007DA but I need Control Handle that is 0x0001099C
      Thankyou
      Marco

      I'm trying to call WinList() with a handle. That should be possible:
      But I only get back an 2d array that looks like this:
      ---------
      0 |
      (That means no window was found.)
      It's not the window or the handle. When I call other functions like WinExists() or WinGetHandle() it works.
      Is it because of me, the description in the reference or because of Autoit who makes a mistake?
      No, because of the rest of my program I don't want to use WinGetTitle() because the format of WinList() has to be kept. Alternatively, I could create a 2d array myself, but it should also work with WinList() ... I hope.

      Hello! Thanks you for looking at my post
      **No source code I'm sorry work related can't copy information**
      I've been using autoit for about 1 year.
      I'm having trouble automating a click on an internet explorer web page and I've tried a lot of examples from help pages and forums already. The object I'm trying to click on isnt always in the same spot so I can't use mouse click or control click, I have tried to use the different get collection options and clickbyname, or index or get object. I'm just struggling.
      Description of object I'm trying to click --
      HTML Code looks like <a ng-click.. "Click Here" it appears it's just a click able object named "click here" that opens a hidden window by running a script inside the web page. I'm not able to grab the information from the window unless it's open so I have to automate this click somehow.

      I understand it's difficult to assist without having something to look at, I apologize for that sincerely and appreciate and assistance and suggestions.

      I have several context menus that's been built using _GUICtrlMenu_CreatePopup() and _GUICtrlMenu_AddMenuItem().
      When using _GUICtrlMenu_CreatePopup() it returns the identifier of the clicked item, sure. But it blocks the main loop while the menu is open.
      When using _GUICtrlMenu_CreatePopup($MNS_MODELESS) it returns immediately (of course), but I cannot figure out how/where to read the item that was clicked. Is there a Windows Message (WM) somewhere that is triggered? I've spend an entire day trying to figure out how to do this, but I'm not getting anywhere. My google fu is depleted (I must have tried like hundreds of script variations today), I'm about to smash my keyboard and just go to bed, and abandon the entire endeavor of making pretty menus and go back to using Koda and forget about using menu icons, colors,  etc.
      Anyone wanna help me out with how to read the clicked item? Before I smash my keyboard, please...

      Example script here:

      #include <GuiMenu.au3> #include <WinAPIError.au3> #include <WindowsConstants.au3> #include <GUIConstantsEx.au3> GUIRegisterMsg($WM_CONTEXTMENU, "_WM_CONTEXTMENU") Global $idMenuItem = 10000, $counter = 0 Global $hGUI = GUICreate("Menu test", 400, 300) Global $hListview = GUICtrlCreateListView("", 2, 2, 396, 200) GUISetState(@SW_SHOW) ;~ Global $hMenuContext = _GUICtrlMenu_CreatePopup() Global $hMenuContext = _GUICtrlMenu_CreatePopup($MNS_MODELESS) _GUICtrlMenu_AddMenuItem($hMenuContext, "Menu item", $idMenuItem) Global $hTimer = TimerInit() Do If TimerDiff($hTimer)>200 Then $counter += 1 ConsoleWrite($counter & " " ) $hTimer = TimerInit() EndIf Until GUIGetMsg() = $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE Exit Func _WM_CONTEXTMENU($hWnd, $iMsg, $wParam, $lParam) #forceref $hWnd, $iMsg, $lParam Switch $wParam Case GUICtrlGetHandle($hListview) ConsoleWrite( @CRLF & "_GUICtrlMenu_TrackPopupMenu = " & _GUICtrlMenu_TrackPopupMenu($hMenuContext, $wParam, -1, -1, 1, 1, 2) & @CRLF) EndSwitch EndFunc
