Trying to add to a host file in a specific place.

Here is an example host file...

I would like to add a comment line and add data between it, like this...

So basically I want to write data between NEW STUFF and END OF NEW STUFF. So I can make sure and not touch any other data. I looked at SetFilePos, but I couldnt see this functionality.

Open the file in append mode (FileOpen("your file name here", $FO_APPEND)) then just use the returned file handle and FileWriteLine, and it will put your text at the end of the file. No need to get fancy.

BTW, don't add the "#" before what you're adding unless it's a comment, otherwise it will have no effect.

I see your point, but in a situation where names or IPs could change, I would be in a situation where I might be interested in replacing the whole NEWSTUFF Section.

Just Wondering if I could use INIWrite to make this work. I may test that, since it supports sections.

Can you tell me how I may be able to find which line Number NEWSTUFF is on? Then I could start $iline at the next line.

Your initial question has now changed. Do you mean find the last line in the file? If you want to append, then just use FileOpen with the flag for append and then FileWrite.

Appending will work for the first go-round. But if I ever wanted to replace that section, how can this be done?

So if I append:

#NEWSTUFF

blah

blah

#ENDOFNEW

Is there a way to find which line "#NEWSTUFF" is on, and which line "#ENDOFNEW" is on, so that I can replace what is in between?

Simple solution, use _FileReadToArray to read the file to an array and enumerate through the array checking for those strings.
