file delete detection

Recommended Posts

Hi

Anyone can help me on how to intercept any file deletion operation on an HD?

I need to log any files deleted in a specific HD. I think this is something like antivírus intercepting writes, reads, etc.

This could be done thru na API?

At end, an AU3 script as a service or resident module that could be activated always a file deletion occurs? I´m completely lost on how to detect this!

Thanks in advance

Jose

you will need to use a driver to do something like that.

There's a way to have your script be informed that a file was deleted using WMI, but not when it's about to be deleted so that you can manipulate the activity.

Itt's a little more complicated than just writing up a script.

Thanks FlutterShy

In fact I just need to know that a file was deleted to log it; No need to manipulate activity. So, WMI (I´m new to WMI) is a solution?

More specifically, what do you think I could do?

Hi, after some goggle search, I found: Detecting File Changes with FileSystemWatcher

http://www.blackwasp.co.uk/FileSystemWatcher.aspx

http://www.blackwasp.co.uk/FileSystemWatcher_2.aspx

the problem is that I´m not very familiar on how to call the system functions as exposed in http://www.blackwasp.co.uk/FileSystemWatcher_2.aspx

Could someone help me on how to call these functions? I think it´s with ObjCreae, but has no idea on how to do it.

Thanks in advance

Jose

joseLB,

seangriffin's FileSystemMonitor UDF will monitor a disk for you - I have found it very reliable. :)
