you are trying to show dialog on something that don't exist. that dialog box should be secure IE option from IE frame that by defolt (if im not wrong) need its original parent window to work and is part of 2 procedures to successfully work. why dont you recreate that windows with Gui and with InetGet if you need something that isnt there?

ShellExecute("http://www.aip.org/history/climate/climate.zip")

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

The problem is with the second example Zohar showed us. A PDF file is displayed, not downloaded:

ShellExecute("www.cred.be/sites/default/files/CredCrunch15.pdf")

You have to disable automatic display of PDF files in Adobe Reader and/or Adobe Acrobat.

1.Open Adobe Reader.

2.Click Edit | Preferences.

3.Click Internet in the left Categories pane.

4.Under Web Browser Options, deselect the Display PDF In Browser check box and click OK.

Same for Acrobat if installed.

This works perfect for me:

ShellExecuteWait("www.cred.be/sites/default/files/CredCrunch15.pdf")
ShellExecuteWait("http://www.aip.org/history/climate/climate.zip")

Hi

Thank you very much.

I thought about this workaround,

and please note that you're only solving the problem for PDF..

I want to be able to initiate the Download Window for all file types.

(I gave PDF as an example.. but it may be anything.. like you, when you want to download a file - which can be any file)

So changing Windows' settings will not be the solution here..

I have no idea how to do it in AutoIt but I would recommend to search Google for a Visual Basic solution and then translate it to AutoIt. Search for something like "open internet explorer download dialog visual basic"

no you did not understand me, that file is set on streaming thats why it dont exsist in that matter. For user to download it instead, server settings need to b changed.

on the other hand you can allwayes use:

Opt("SendKeyDelay", 0)
Opt("SendKeyDownDelay", 0)
Send('{APPSKEY}a')
Opt("SendKeyDelay", 5)
Opt("SendKeyDownDelay", 1)

if you have focus on that link, and you dont wish to recreate download window with autoit gui commands. And i think you can not use IE window with some strange msdn api func to iniciate its gui on streaming link (for HTML 5 i dont know, maybe it already have some html code that will force page to iniciate saveas dialogs)
