how to disable a built in windows button?

I want to disable the "include a folder" button. This button is a built in windows button so I'm guessing I need to have my script always run, and always be checking for the existence of this button. If the button exists, disable it / gray it out.

I'm not sure of the commands needed to access windows buttons.

EDIT: after testing it seems windows always has a different handle of the button every time it is loaded. The only thing that seems to be consistent is the "advanced mode" and "text"

You could try ControlDisable, untested, but it appears to be what would work for you.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

ControlDisable("[CLASS:Button; INSTANCE:1]", "Include a folder", "")

Doesn't seem to be working. Do I need more than this? Must the window have focus?

EDIT:

ControlDisable("", "Include a folder", "")

seems to work but ONLY if the window has focus, and only if I have previously clicked on the button to give the button focus. I need something that will always be searching for this particular button and if it ever detects it even if it doesn't have focus then it disables it.

For a Control* function the window doesn't have to have focus.

What's the return value of ControlDisable?

Or use ControlHide to completely hide it.

You should include the title of the window, or at the very least the class: information for it, don't include the text of the window because that will probably change. You should use the control information "[CLASS:Button; INSTANCE:1]" for the control to interact with.
