Which is "better" in a GUI-loop?

If i remember corectly, the select-statement came later, chronologicly so i've allways used while...If in all my GUI's.

Which is the prefered alternative out there, are there any drawbacks with either of the following GUI's?

Either:

#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>

GUICreate("Title goes here")
GUISetState()

While 1
$msg = GUIGetMsg()
Select

Case $msg = $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE
ExitLoop

EndSelect
WEnd
GUIDelete()

Or:

GUICreate("Title goes here")
GUISetState()

While 1
$msg = GUIGetMsg()

Best practise is the first example. To be honest, I don't see it having that much of an effect, however it's easier to maintain when you start adding more control events etc.

Are there any difference in CPU/memory-load, timers, idle attributes etc. if you compare these three loops?

No, except that the If statement is "slower" than a select/switch.

On a little snippet like this, there is no matter to talk about efficiency.

I also find passing the hWnd returned by GUICreate to be best practice as well. It saves a lot of headache with the relying on the last created GUI.
