  • 2 weeks later...

Hello, I am having a problem when using SciTE4Autit3 and COM. The following code works fine when I use the version of SciTe packaged with AutoIT and fails (returns error) when using SciTE4Autit3. Please note I am using the zipped packages for AutoIT and SciTe VS the installed versions.

$TSMm = ObjCreate("Tekla.Structures.Model.Model")
      If @error Then
MsgBox(1,"ERROR", "Tekla.Structures.Model.Model" & @CRLF & "Could not connect to Tekla, verify and rerun")
          Exit
      EndIf

Additionally, When using Scite that is packaged with AutoIT I am able to work with the object as expected.

Any help would be much appreciated, as I would prefer to use SciTE4Autit3 as I have been for apps that do not require dependancies through COM.

EDIT: Additional Information

The extracted "SciTE4Autit3" folder is within the "autoit-v3" folder.

MrJustinMeyer,

Welcome to the AutoIt forum. :)

The version of SciTE you use shold have no effect on the code itself - I wonder if you are actually running different versions of AutoIt each time. Could you please post the output you get in the lower SciTE pane for each of the runs - that should give us (and certainly Jos) a better handle on what is going on. ;)

Thanks a lot for the fast reply M23.

I have edited my previous post to include the requested information.

The first one seems to be running the x86 version of AutoIt3, the second the x64 verssion.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

MrJustinMeyer,

BrewManNH could well have it. Just to confirm, could you please run the following script in both SciTE versions and let us see the results:

ConsoleWrite("AutoIt: " & @AutoItX64 & @CRLF & "CPU   : " & @CPUArch & @CRLF & "OS    : " & @OSArch & @CRLF)
If it is indeed the case that the versions being run are different, we can then move into the next phase. ;)

MrJustinMeyer,

I have just lifted the posting restriction - so please post in sequence from now on. :)

Of interest I have never seen anyone have both versions of SciTE on the same machine - it might well be this which is causing the problem as that are both fighting over the same environment and properties. :(

M23,

I had posted they are not installed, rather they are being ran from a flash drive, and never at the same time. So I am not sure that they would be "fighting" over the envirement properties.

My current (annoying) process is to write in SciTE4Autit3, close it, and then run in the other Scite.

One thing I just noticed is that when running Scite that comes with Autoit, the title bar has " - SciTE4Autit3", where as running Scite from the stand alone package has only " - SciTE" in the title bar.

The version that comes with AutoIt says SciTE Lite in the title bar when running. The Scite that comes with Scite4AutoIt3 says SciTE in the title bar. Not sure where you're getting the titles you're getting from, seems strange.

The one coming with AutoIt is really a lite version of the complete SciTE coming with Scite4AutoIt3

MrJustinMeyer,

We did believe you! ;)

Anyway this beats me. I think we will have to wait for Jos, our resident SciTE guru, to log in. :)

As a work-around, try adding #AutoIt3Wrapper_UseX64=n to the top of the script you run in SciTE4Autoit3 - that should force it to use the x86 version and so resolve the specific problem you are having. ;)

They need to set the environment variable SciTE_HOME to the directory of where SciTE is located. I'm guess they're looking at using SciTE in portable "mode".

guinness,

That was one reason why I suggested there was some sort of conflict going on between the 2 versions. Quite frankly I can see no reason to keep SciTE-Lite if you have the full SciTE4AutoIt3 version - it offers so much more. :)

Very nice, this works! Thank you very much!

Though it will not have an impact to force not using x64 in this case it would be nice to know why, and what I may need to do to get it working in the future.

By the way, I was not insinuating that anyone did not believe me. I was only validaing what I had said, and looking to verify if that was correct.

This forum has always been a great resource because of the knowledge of its members. Thanks!

M23, I could not agree more. But I have had to use this work around to get the great functions within Scite4Autoit3 and also be to be able to build.

By default, on an x64 system SciTE4AutoIt3 (well, more accurately, AutoIt3Wrapper) will run and compile with the x64 version of AutoIt3. You can set system wide defaults by creating a file called AutoIt3Wrapper.ini in the same directory as AutoIt3Wrapper. In fact, there should be an example INI in your installation of SciTE4AutoIt3. Create the following entry in the INI file to change the default to run and compile scripts as x86. This default can be overridden by adding the appropriate directives to the script file.

[Autoit]
UseX64=n

This piece of code from AutoIt3Wrapper determines the default version of AutoIt3.exe it uses:

If @OSArch = "X86" Or StringInStr(RegRead("HKCR\AutoIt3Script\Shell\Run\Command", ""), "AutoIt3.exe") Then
    SetDefaults($INP_UseX64, "n", "auto=a;yes=y;no=n;1=y;0=n;4=n", "y;n", 0, 0)
Else
    SetDefaults($INP_UseX64, "y", "auto=a;yes=y;no=n;1=y;0=n;4=n", "y;n", 0, 0)
EndIf

So, when the system OS is X86 or you installed Autoit3 with using by default the X86 version, it will default to the x86 version else to the x64 version.

Does that make sense?

Jos :)
