Assigning button to read registry value?

Recommended Posts

Hello! I need a little help :bye:

I managed to get the GUI, i wanted for my software. Here is the code:

#include <ButtonConstants.au3>

#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>

#include <ProgressConstants.au3>

#include <WindowsConstants.au3>

$SCO = GUICreate("blahblah..", 394, 194, 192, 124)

GUISetIcon("blahblah..", -1)

$Progress1 = GUICtrlCreateProgress(8, 168, 374, 17)

$Button1 = GUICtrlCreateButton("Analyze", 8, 136, 123, 25)

I want it to read multiple registry keys? When you press the analyze button and display the registry keys value with progress bar as it reading through it, In the GUI?

I tried multiple codes but its not working out. A little help to work it out? Thanks in advance.

GUISetState(@SW_SHOW)

While 1

$nMsg = GUIGetMsg()

Switch $nMsg

Case $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE

Exit

EndSwitch

WEnd

You don't have the listener for your button press in your while loop. Check out the GUI section in the help file, it'll have some examples and show you how to set up your Switch...Case for GUI controls.

Spoiler

“Hello, ladies, look at your man, now back to me, now back at your man, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped using ladies scented body wash and switched to Old Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re on a boat with the man your man could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an oyster with two tickets to that thing you love. Look again, the tickets are now diamonds. Anything is possible when your man smells like Old Spice and not a lady. I’m on a horse.”

You should probably look in the help file under GUICtrlCreateButton for how to read when it's pressed, and then look under GUICtrlCreateProgress to see how to update it.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

Ok, I tried this (Example)

While 1

$nMsg = GUIGetMsg()

Switch $nMsg

Case $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE

Case $nMsg = $Button1

Local $var = RegRead("HKLMSYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlSession ManagerMemory Management", "DisablePagingExecutive")

Local $var = RegRead("HKLMSYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlSession ManagerMemory Management", "blah")

Exit

EndSwitch

WEnd

It just display the GUI and closes automatically? I want it to show the value in the GUI when "Analyze" button is clicked...? Sorry i am all new to this.

you put the exit in where the button code is instead of the GUI_EVENT_CLOSE section.

So where am i suppose to put this code?

Case $nMsg = $Button1

Local $var = RegRead("HKLMSYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlSession ManagerMemory Management", "DisablePagingExecutive")

$Label_DisablePaginExecutive = GUICtrlCreateLabel($DisablePagingExecutive, 120, 10, 120, 20)

Here? Sorry for asking to many questions. IT should be like this? If i put it somewhere else without the switch thing it gives error,

"Case" statement with no matching "Select"or "Switch" statement.:

While 1

$nMsg = GUIGetMsg()

Switch $nMsg

Case $nMsg = $Button1

Local $var = RegRead("HKLMSYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlSession ManagerMemory Management", "DisablePagingExecutive")

$Label_DisablePaginExecutive = GUICtrlCreateLabel($DisablePagingExecutive, 120, 10, 120, 20)

Case $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE

Exit

EndSwitch

WEnd

Now it just automatically closes..Any way i could solve this?

This:

Case $nMsg = $Button1

Should be written like this:

Case $Button1
