Appending specific clipboard string to a text file

Go to solution Solved by mrflibblehat,

Greetings,

I have a script that copies mutilline text to clipboard. The clipboard text has be assigned a variable, can be seen in a messagebox, and is shown below.

DeviceName:       Test1

Version:                1.2

DeviceSerial:       123456789

Last Line:             Text End

I am trying to get the "123456789" string and append it to a text file. I've expiremented with StringRegExpReplace, but have not had too much luck. Could someone please point me in the right direction? An example would be fanatatic.

Thanks in advance!

Maybe something like this will work, Where $vString is your variable

StringRegExp($vString, "DeviceSerial: (.*?) Last", 3)

Edit: Guinness has provided a much better working example and taught me some more regex in the process :)

Working example.

#include <Array.au3>

Local $sString = 'DeviceName:       Test1' & @CRLF & _
        'Version:                1.2' & @CRLF & _
        'DeviceSerial:       123456789' & @CRLF & _
'Last Line:             Text End' & @CRLF
Local $aArray = StringRegExp($sString, 'DeviceSerial:\h+(\d+)', 3)
_ArrayDisplay($aArray)

Great, Thanks!

I can see the serial in the array pop up. For the second part of this script, I tried writing it to file using this code. I don't see anything written to the file. If I replace the $aArray with a "SomeString" in the FileWriteLine function, then the specified string text goes to the file. Am I going about it in the right way?

Local $file = FileOpen("temp.txt", 1)

; Check if file opened for writing OK
If $file = -1 Then
MsgBox(0, "Error", "Unable to open file.")
    Exit
EndIf

FileWriteLine($file, $aArray & @CRLF)
FileClose($file)

I believe the array will need a parameter. try

FileWriteLine($file, $aArray[0] & @CRLF)

Or

Local $file = FileOpen("temp.txt", 1)

; Check if file opened for writing OK
If $file = -1 Then
MsgBox(0, "Error", "Unable to open file.")
    Exit
EndIf

For $i = 0 to UBound($aArray) -1
   FileWriteLine($file, $aArray[$i] & @CRLF)
Next

FileClose($file)
