I had been reviewing some lectures on intelligence and I came across the whole response time tests. Basically it is where you have to react immediately to something and the quicker you are at being able to act, the more intelligent you are. Apparently it is a highly g-loaded activity.

So I attempted to make my own version of one of the described tests in it's basic form.

Instructions:

Run the script and you will see a black box. You must hold your left mouse button down on the black area. As soon as you see the black turn green you must let go immediately as soon as you can. Then once it goes black repeat. It requires 10 "trials" of this, thus it is very quick. However if you are impatient and just want to quickly see your response time after 1 or 2 trials or something you can exit the program via the X and it will give you your figure. I came up with a way to keep the relevant results and ignore obviously anomalously high values due to distraction or scratching your nose or something.

It is quite interesting. You might want to, out of curiosity, get a few people you know to try it and see after 10 trials what they score compared to you. I would especially be interested in your results if you would post them also if you happen to know your actual IQ that would be interesting to see if there is a hard link between known IQ and response time as scientific studies suggest.

I got that result by starting the script, doing it a couple of times then selecting close. I don't know if people did that too.

NOTE: You should change the title of the GUI to indicate how many tests have been done so far, you lose track when trying to concentrate on the colors. :)

Well if I remember correctly, the intelligence is related to the brain's "efficiancy" and ability to process data more quickly than otherwise. So the quicker your response time, the faster you're brain is able to process things, meaning your "g" intelligence is higher.

I just woke up not long ago and did 10 trials of this and got this score:

Well "they" (scientists) say that the brain's ability to process information/stimulus/action quicker is a result of higher g-intelligence. They say there is a high corelation between "g" and response time.
