How to post code on the forum?

Would it be possible to have two or the cariage returns at the end of the post, when the code is posted last? The reason I ask, I am unable to quickly add an EDIT to my post ie. I make changes to my post (not my code), and my code is entered last...trying to go to the bottom of the code and inserting a line or two to tell why you update the post, does not seem aloud. I can change to FULL TEXT and go to the bottom of the code tag and insert a couple of lines, but not in graphic mode.

Does my request make sense?

I just tried editing a post with no text after the code and placing the cursor at the end of the posted code and pressing {ENTER} took the cursor outside the code box ready to enter more text.  Do you not find the same thing?

edit, I was able to after trying a few times (tried 3 times, because I had to get it just right) - not as easy as doing in text mode

Edit I think it is because, there is hardly any space between the box and outside of browser ==>> using firefox 20.0.1
