Run() batch file does not run as if it has been double clicked

I have a batch file with the following command in it...

>nul 2>&1 "%SYSTEMROOT%system32cacls.exe" "%SYSTEMROOT%system32configsystem"||(
 goto Admin_Error

 

If I use autoit to run this batch file, I get an Admin Error but if I double click the batch file, it works fine.

Strangely enough, if I run it on a 32bit OS with autoit, it works as well.  I am only seeing this on x64 - specifically windows 7.  Untested on XP.  But, as I said, even under X64, if I double click the file to open it, it works as expected.

Have you also thought about swapping Run for ShellExecute?

Tried Shellexecute with no luck as well.  Forgot to mention that. 

As for Using x64 autoit.  If I right click and choose Run X86, it fails.  If I right click and choose Run x64, it seems to work.  However, if I compile it as x64, then it doesnt seem to work on my 32bit machines

That makes sense.

Guess you would need to have the x86 version of cacls available on the x64 systems for that to work.

You can't run 64-bit executables on 32-bit machines. But you can run 32-bit executables on 32/64-bit machines. This is common knowledge I presumed?

Common knowledge indeed.  I just was clarifying in case autoit had a function I was not aware of...  that happens alot. 

So I am stumped as to why I can manually run this batch file and all is well on x64, but it doesnt work with autoit.  I guess I could compile 2 EXEs and use a second script to determine the OS ARCH

It is quite simple why the commandline works since you start a x86 CMD version on a X86 Systems and and X64 version of CMD on a x64 OS system. ;)

That is why I stated you might want to check if you could make a X86 version of cacls available on a x64 system and if that works, because you could then work with the x86 compiled script on all systems.
