I made an autoit program, I love it, I thnik it has potential to be sold So now, I don't know any other programming language and I wonder what are the problems with selling an autoit compiled script. I read somewhere it is very easy to decompile.. Is it true and is there a way to overcome that? As far as we are concerned there is no problem with you selling a compiled AutoIt script - but perhaps you might like to make a donation to the forum if you become rich! As to security: Searching the forums will provide you with a lot more information in greater detail, but in brief: - Your plain language script is within the compiled .exe, but in compressed form. It is not immediately viewable with a hex editor, but is by no means secure as it is expanded in memory when the .exe is run.- Obfuscator (part of the full SciTE4AutoIt3 package) will obscure your script by changing variable and constant names (and a lot more!), which makes it harder to decompile but again does not render the .exe secure.So, compiling an AutoIt script will prevent quick snooping, but a determined, experienced hacker can relatively easily get your source - including passwords, specific filenames, etc - or the encryption routines you have used in your script to encrypt/decrypt them if they are stored in another file.Probably not what you wanted to hear - but no language is entirely secure. Everything depends on how much the hacker wants to get your source. So I assume that even with obfuscating, if I go serious about this, I should find another programming language.. Any suggestion? Am I wrong thinking .net would be the easiest route (I only target windows users, I need an GUI and logic just as autoit provides, nothing more!). Thanks!! I doubt it will happen to you and if it does then it will be a small minority. So is it worth spending all that time finding workarounds, just to save a couple of cents? You just have to think "are those people that will use it, have a clue first that it's written in AutoIt and secondly do they have the time and knowledge to steal my intellectual property."
