Expand variable

Hi,  Greetings to all forum members

 

 

I'd like to get text from clipboard and send it as parameter of a windows program.

The program is fart.exe, a command line utility to replace text inside files.

The text from clipboard is taken trough 

findstr .. D:dati.txt |clip

 

I wrote two scripts, but they don't work

Opt("ExpandVarStrings", 1)

Local $bak = ClipGet()
Local $rc = _RunDos("fart -q -i D:\m.reg $bak D:")

Opt("ExpandVarStrings", 1)

Local $bak = ClipGet()
Run(@ComSpec & " /c " & 'fart D:\m.reg $bak D:', "", @SW_HIDE)

 

 

But $bak variable is treated literally, is not expanded

Please have a look at the helpfile: AutoItSetOption("ExpandVarStrings", 1)

Give this example a try:

AutoItSetOption("ExpandVarStrings", 0)
Global $test = "long"
MsgBox(0, "", "This is a $test$ string")
AutoItSetOption("ExpandVarStrings", 1)
MsgBox(0, "", "This is a $test$ string")

Try it this way:

To let AutoIt expand the variables in your original post you need to use them as "$bak$" not "$bak".

There is also _WinAPI_ExpandEnvironmentStrings.

But the OP talks avout expanding strings not environment variables

Thanks your script work well if you add

Opt("ExpandVarStrings", 1)

 

Try it this way:

When I insert $bak$, Scite editor give me an error and the script doesn't work

To let AutoIt expand the variables in your original post you need to use them as "$bak$" not "$bak".

If you check my script from post #4 (tested with Autoit 3.3.8.1) you need to set the variable like any variable in AutoIt (without the trailing "$". Means: $bak). To be expanded in a string you need the trailing dollar sign (means: $bak$).
