Why If _Test() = 1 also run the function again?

 

Question 2:

how can I run the _Test() function once, while being able to return form several points in the function back to main for testing.

The code loses formatting when pasting into this forum. Nothing I can do about that.

The question was

Why does running "If _Test() = 1 ......" also run the function?

AND

How can I return from the _TEST function in multiple areas and test for the return values back in the _MAIN function.

Is there a better way to run a function and have it return values back to the _main function for testing all throughout the _test function?

Indentation is working if you use the blue A and as for formatting I meant Return(2) and such-like.

_Test runs because you haven't included any code not to. You can only return where the return keyword is used OR at the end of the function.

What do you expect to happen when you run the line If _Test() = 1?

The answer is, it will call the _Test and then compare the return from that to 1 to see if it equals it or not.

The second answer is equally easy to figure out.

$SomeVariable = _Test() ; this will put the return value from _Test into $SomeVariable
