Can an .au3 file be run with AutoIt3.exe without program files?

You can even run a Au3 file with a compiled executable. Search _Au3Run or /ExecuteScript on the Forum and in the help file.

I did a little bit of reading but I'm still a little confused.

If I made a batch file or something that ran.

C:mycompiledscript.exe /ExecuteScript c:myau3file.au3 it doesn't work.

But it does work with the original AutoIt3.exe and path to au3 file.

So my original question is answered but raises another, what is the syntax for using a compiled script to call an au3 from the command line?

I don't see a link to your function.

But am I understanding this correctly or not? A complied .exe already has the ability to execute an .au3 file without coding in command line parameters of your own?

Look in the help file under "Using AutoIt=>Running Scripts".

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

Not exactly. Just:

yourcompiled.exe

 

That is it. If you compile it into an EXE - you don't need anything else. Everything is self-contained in yourcompiled.exe

Yeh, they could use Obfuscator and the command striponly to merge all includes into one Au3 file or compile as a3x. That's what I normally do when I need a separate process.

Excellent point to remember.

Yeh, they could use Obfuscator and the command striponly to merge all includes into one Au3 file or compile as a3x. That's what I normally do when I need a separate process.

I did not know there was a way to run Obfuscator without compiling, but I found Obfuscator.exe and tried it. :thumbsup:

Add .a3x to the PATHEXT environment variable, and put a copy of AutoIt3.exe somewhere on PATH (or modify PATH to include it). I then usually add "C:bin" to PATH and store a whole load of utilities in there (most of them compiled to a3x).

Then you can just run the tool by its name.
