Autoit Executable started by PSEXC not exiting?

Recommended Posts

Good day all,

I have the following script that is working great when run locally, but when I execute it with PSEXC (After compiling the script to an executable) the Script never exit's which causes the PSEXC command window to never close

; Open the Brother Control Centre
run("C:\Support\AutoScan\controlcentre.bat", "C:\Program Files\ControlCenter4")
WinWait("ControlCenter4")

; Click the Scan Image button and wait for the Reading from Device Window
sleep(300)
ControlClick("ControlCenter4", "", "[CLASS:Button; INSTANCE:14]")
WinWait("Image - ControlCenter4")
Send("{Enter}")

; End Script
Exit 0

Any help would be appreciated, thanks heaps!

Beuyau,

Welcome to the AutoIt forum. :)

But please pay attention to where you post - the "Developer Chat" section where you started this thread is not for general support questions. I have moved the thread for you, but would ask you to be more careful in future. ;)

assuming you use PsExec for remote execution: PsExec, being run under the calling user account security context, does not allow you to perform interaction with Windows GUI. you'll need to find another way to accomplish your goal.

If you change the last Send to ControlSend does it work?

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

Verify that the PID is greater than 0 (returned from the function) on the bat file, and in general, error handling for all returns.  Write to a log file to see what's happening/not happening.

It's possible the bat is not executing, so winwait waits indefinately...look into putting a time out into it, and failing if a handle is not returned by the function

WinWait ( "title" [, "text" [, timeout]] )

Success:

Returns handle to the requested window.

Use IsHWnd() to validate the return.

Does the script work when you run it, manually?

Hi Beuyau,

do you have used the -i parameter of the psexec command?

it must be used if your program must interact with the remote gui

Hi everyone,

So sorry for my late response, I was in hospital with serious case of man flu!

  • Melba, thanks for moving my Post. I'll be more careful with the areas in future
  • Orbs, I thought that using the - parameter of psexec allowed interacting with the GUI? My script does all the functions needed it's just not exiting once it's done
  • Brewman, I'll test this today and let you know
  • jdelaney, Yup script works fine when I run it manually from the computer with the Brother ControlCentre software, I'll make those suggested changes and let you know how it goes
  • Pincopanco, Sure am here is my full line (I've masked the machinname in the post)
PsExec.exe \\<machinename> -i "c:\support\autoscan\scan.exe"
