need some guidence and help

Recommended Posts

I've been searching the forums and the internet and I've gathered a bunch of different methods about getting past the windows logon screen and I'm trying to find out what you guys would recommend that I do.

A little about what I'm trying to do:

I want to install my script on multiple / different CPU's and in the early morning hours, the script starts up from a scheduled task and runs until completion. Afterwords, it logs off. The script needs to be able to open IE and navigate through a couple of webpages and then FTP the data to my server.

What I've read so far:

I've read about the Sysinternals app.

I'm not crazy about this one because you have to reboot the CPU for it to work. Some of the computers would have to be locked during the day. The users in the daytime could have unsaved work on the machine, so I wouldn't want to take a chance and erase their work.

I've read about writing registry keys.

This has me nervous because I'm not familiar with them and from what I've read, if your not familiar with them, then leave them alone.

I'm wondering how I accomplish this. If I need to write reg. keys, then I will learn, but are there any other methods or ways? Is there a script out there that I can set a scheduled task to auto logon and then run my other script?

Please forgive me. I know that there are older post with similar topics but I don't understand them.

That doesn't sound in the least bit sketchy.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

I hereby grant any person the right to use any code I post, that I am the original author of, on the autoitscript.com forums, unless I've specifically stated otherwise in the code or the thread post. If you do use my code all I ask, as a courtesy, is to make note of where you got it from.

Back up and restore Windows user files _Array.au3 - Modified array functions that include support for 2D arrays.  -  ColorChooser - An add-on for SciTE that pops up a color dialog so you can select and paste a color code into a script.  -  Customizable Splashscreen GUI w/Progress Bar - Create a custom "splash screen" GUI with a progress bar and custom label.  -  _FileGetProperty - Retrieve the properties of a file  -  SciTE Toolbar - A toolbar demo for use with the SciTE editor  -  GUIRegisterMsg demo - Demo script to show how to use the Windows messages to interact with controls and your GUI.  -   Latin Square password generator

i promise it's not. I'm currently running this on my pc at work but the problem is, I have to keep my pc unlocked. I do keep my office locked when I'm not there. It's just a hassle. I'm just trying to figure out how I can set it to autologon, do some work ( because I have to have active windows with my main script ) and log off. Eventually what I would like to do after I get it fine tuned is set up a subscription based service for other companies. In order to do that, I will have to get past the windows log on screen for it to work. It may be that the Sysinternals app is the route that I have to take. I'm just not to crazy about having to reboot the computer.

Try to do everything in the background. That means don't automate the IE  by relying on mouse movement and Send statement. Use the IE UDF so everything can be done in the background.

That's all I can tell without having seen the script.

RickB75,

You might well be the honest chap you say you are who means to do no harm, but I hope you can see that what you are asking for could very easily be used by less scrupulous folk who do. I am not prepared to give them a ready-made solution, so I am locking the thread - sorry. :(
