Set hotkey an ASCII Character

Hello autoit forum , my z button broken so i want to press "<" key to send "z" character.But i could not.

I tried this ;

$Key = Chr(60)
HotKeySet($Key,"z")

Func z()
Send("z")
EndFunc

while 1
    Sleep(10)
WEnd

I can send "<" key with this code but cant set to hotkey

$Key = Chr(60)
Send($Key)

Why not just use, HotKeySet("<", "z")?

Chr(60) and "<" works fine here.

Windows 7, german keyboard layout.

Edit: It was "<" not "z" that worked. Unfortunately the test script was still running while typing the text

Actually Chr(60) and "<" both work for me with the snippet I posted.

That snippet works, at least on my computer and apparently water's so it must be something to do with either the program you're trying to send the Z to or something else on your computer. Try replacing the Send command with a msgbox and see if you see that, if the msgbox shows up, then it's not the script or autoit.

BTW can't you just replace the keyboard? They're about $5 for the basic type.

You need to use the shift key when pressing the button, otherwise use a comma. But the script works for me here as well.

They're also quite easy to replace for a laptop. I split liquid on mine and found a replacement for 20€, which is cheaper than forking out for a laptop.
