Request for a Grid Editor

Recommended Posts

Hi!

Been using AutoIt for a while and it is good on so many places but there is one thing I haven't found a good solution for.

Working with 2D arrays its very easy to present the data with _ArrayDisplay() but many times I also want the possibility to edit the array.

The solution I use today is exporting the array to excel (_ExcelWriteSheetFromArray) edit it in Excel and then retrieve the array again (_ExcelReadSheetToArray). But that requires Excel has to start up and this takes time. And when sharing my app I have to tell everyone they can only use it if Excel is installed.

There are many bright developers out there. Cant someone make a user friendly grid editor and include that in AutoIt?

Something like _ArrayEdit() :-)

Should be easy to use, arrow keys to move between fields and just start typing to replace values. Press F2 to edit values and save into the same array again when closing.

Hope this triggers someone.

Kind Regards,

Thomas

AngelsFlyHigh,

Take a look at my GUIListViewEx UDF (the link is in my sig) - you can very easily get your array into an editable ListView and then retrieve the array once done. ;)

See how you get on creating your own wrapper (you will need to create the ListView) - but please ask if you need any help. :)
