Zooovel2
Hello, I made an installation script for an application which does not support silent installation. It works fine although I would like to have the installation window minimized or removed. I can use a little help with this. In some documentation there was something written about @SW_HIDE so I added that to the script but it doesn't have any effect. This is the script so far: #RequireAdmin Run("WinPcap_4_1_3.exe", "", @SW_HIDE) WinWaitActive("WinPcap 4.1.3 Setup", "", @SW_HIDE) Send("!n") WinWaitActive("WinPcap 4.1.3 Setup", "License Agreement", @SW_HIDE) Send("!a") WinWaitActive("WinPcap 4.1.3 Setup", "Installation options", @SW_HIDE) ControlClick("WinPcap 4.1.3 Setup", "Installation options", "[CLASS:Button; INSTANCE:2]") WinWaitActive("WinPcap 4.1.3 Setup", "Completing the WinPcap", @SW_HIDE) Send("!f") If you have any sugguestions that would be really great and it would be even better if you could provide some example code. ~Zooovel Edited July 15, 2013 by Zooovel
blckpythn
What is the purpose of installing it hidden, might I ask?
Zooovel2
Lost the credentials of the topic starting account (using spam email...) We are creating an application which is dependable on the winpcap drivers. Wanting to make it as easy as possible for the user, not having to go trough another installation process I was asked to automate the installation of winpcap. For the user it would be somewhat of an odd experience seeing things getting clicked automatically...
blckpythn
Ok well if you look at the help file for WinWaitActive, you'd notice that @SW_HIDE cannot be passed. The third parameter is for timeouts only. I haven't tried it for your installer but WinSetState can pass @SW_HIDE WinSetState("WinPcap 4.1.3 Setup", "", @SW_HIDE) But if hidden it will not/can not be active(as far as I know). So instead of using keystrokes look into ControlClick for everything instead of Send. ControlClick will work while the window is hidden. And instead of WinWaitActive to make sure it has moved to the next page, try using just WinWait.
BrewManNH
If you hide the window, you should probably use ControlSend instead of Send. If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day. Zooovel2
Ok I will look into that, thanks. Edit: #RequireAdmin Run("WinPcap_4_1_3.exe", "", @SW_MINIMIZE) WinSetState("WinPcap 4.1.3 Setup", "", @SW_MINIMIZE) It should start the installer minimized like that right?... it's not happening Edited July 16, 2013 by Zooovel2
0xdefea7
This is kind of a lot to make this happen, but you can adapt the code in this post to start your installer, then use ProcessWaitClose and clean up the newly created desktop after installation. Cool, used your code and the installer starts hidden now, however, I can't seem to interact with it. Tried controlclick/send etc... Probably because I only partly understand the code Do you know how to interact with the window? Edited July 16, 2013 by Zooovel2
0xdefea7
You will need to use the SetThreadDesktop function to your new desktop before sending commands. I'm not sure if you have to switch desktops as well to interact with the process. I have never used it in this way so I would be curious to see how it works out.
