michaelslamet,

Have you tried running the compiled script? :huh:

If you use the directive you will get a command window opening - which is why it is called Command User Interface. ;)

Melba,

Shame on me, I just notice that when I run the GUI application from GUI/Windows, I tried it before running it from command prompt :)

Ok so next question is:

I have a GUI application, but if user run it with particular parameter, I want to display message using ConsoleWrite.

So it become a CUI application only if user run it with particular parameter.

How can I do that?

michaelslamet,

Why do you need a command prompt? Just use a GUI or MsgBox to display the message. ;)

So it's not possible if I want when user run it with particular parameter it become a command line application?

I want a user know what has happenned, so I need some kind of log window to display something like this:

Login now...

Ok, sucesfully login...

Generating the file now, please wait...

Deleting temporary file now...

Exiting now...

See you next time!

It's the whole different subsystem application runs under.

But you can have console window even from GUI, did you search the forum, I believe there were examples posted.

You mean, we can do some kind of ConsoleWrite from GUI?

What keyword I should use to search this?

trancexx,

C in CUI means "character-mode"

Thanks for the clarification. :)

  • 2 months later...

Is it possible to compile as a CUI but have the console window start hidden and then restore with a GUI or Traymenu event triggered? I would like to have a GUI or TrayMenu type compiled exe with the option of opening an actual console window (or simular) to show data that is written via consolewrite(). I like to write debug info to console for later review during issues. :)

Only thing I can think of off the top of my head (not tried yet) would be to hide the console window right after it opens. Is there a better way of doing such a thing?

Have you tried to use it:
#include <debug.au3>
_DebugSetup('My debug window')
_DebugOut("Login now...")
_DebugOut("Ok, sucesfully login...")
_DebugOut("Generating the file now, please wait...")
_DebugOut("Deleting temporary file now...")
_DebugOut("Exiting now...")
_DebugOut("See you next time!")

You might not find it on the forum, but there are examples here (in particular this one) for a project I started and then never finished, that wraps the console windows api.

Your script contained several errors I was able to improve the most.

>"C:\Program Files (x86)\AutoIt3\SciTE\AutoIt3Wrapper\AutoIt3Wrapper.exe" /run /beta /ErrorStdOut /in "L:\TOOLs\Macro\TEST_Console.au3" /UserParams

"L:\TOOLs\Macro\Console_org.au3"(3040,77) : error: _Console_ReadInput() called by a previous line with 5 arg(s). Max = 4. First previous line calling this Func is 3035.

I added:
#include <StructureConstants.au3>
#include <WindowsConstants.au3>
I changed from:
Local $aRet[4] = [$tConsoleScreenBufferInfo.Left, $tConsoleScreenBufferInfo.Top, _
            $tConsoleScreenBufferInfo.Right - $aRet[0], $tConsoleScreenBufferInfo.Bottom - $aRet[1]]
to:
Local $aRet[4] = [$tConsoleScreenBufferInfo.Left, $tConsoleScreenBufferInfo.Top, _
            $tConsoleScreenBufferInfo.Right - $tConsoleScreenBufferInfo.Left, $tConsoleScreenBufferInfo.Bottom - $tConsoleScreenBufferInfo.Top]
but I do not know how to use this function:
If _Console_ReadInput($hConsoleInput, DllStructGetPtr($tInputRecord), 1, $fUnicode, $hDll) = 0 Then Return SetError(@error, @extended, 0)
it had not been for this error:
"L:\TOOLs\Macro\Console_org.au3"(3040,77) : error: _Console_ReadInput() called by a previous line with 5 arg(s). Max = 4. First previous line calling this Func is 3035.

Enclosed, the revised script "Console.au3"
