Hello,

I made a small test case to show whats happening:

#RequireAdmin
Local $command = "winmgmt -standalonehost"
ConsoleWrite("----------RUN AS---------" & @CR)
ConsoleWrite(_RunAsTest($command))
ConsoleWrite("-----------RUN-----------" & @CR)
ConsoleWrite(_RunTest($command))

Func _RunTest($command)
    Local $text = ''
    Local $str = StringFormat("%s /c ""%s""", @ComSpec, $command)
    Local $Pid = Run($str, @SystemDir, @SW_HIDE, 8)
    While 1
        $text &= StdoutRead($Pid, False, False)
        If @error Then ExitLoop
        Sleep(10)
    WEnd
    Return $text
EndFunc   ;==>_RunTest

Func _RunAsTest($command)
    Local $text = ''
    Local $str = StringFormat("%s /c ""%s""", @ComSpec, $command)
    Local $Pid = RunAs(@UserName, @ComputerName, "AdministratorsPassword", 4, $str, @SystemDir, @SW_HIDE, 8)
    While 1
        $text &= StdoutRead($Pid, False, False)
        If @error Then ExitLoop
        Sleep(10)
    WEnd
    Return $text
EndFunc   ;==>_RunAsTest

Console Output:

----------RUN AS---------
Service configuration changes succeeded.

Please stop and restart Winmgmt service for changes to take effect.
-----------RUN-----------
Service configuration changes failed

I am using the built-in 'Administrator' account when I execute the script, and I am testing this on Windows 2008 R2. I have also tried changing the 'logon_flag' in RunAs() to check if one of the flags will cause it to behave the same way Run() does; there is no difference among them.

Does anyone know a way I can get this to work without RunAs()? I would prefer leveraging _RunDos() Since it will return the commands exit code, but any workaround would be greatly appreciated?

Thanks,

BPCM

Try adding #RequireAdmin at the top of your script.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

I couldn't help but notice that you are passing "" as the working directory for Run() and @SystemDir as the working directory for RunAs().  Not that it should make any difference with winmgmt, but if you are trying to compare the two functions, you should supply the same parameters.

Try running the X64 version of AutoIt3. You can use the following line in case you have the full SciTE4AutoIt3 running:

#AutoIt3Wrapper_UseX64=y
