ineleganthack
(First post) Background: Love what you all are doing here. I've been teaching myself scripting using AutoIt for a couple of years now, and am getting far enough it is time to start using databases. I have not done any database programming in the past, so I am diving in as best I know how to get started. I intially was drawn to MySQL, and started learning based on that. Further research has lead me to think MariaDB may be a better long-term solution. Question 1: Do you all trust Oracle enough to stick with MySQL or do you have more faith that the team at MariaDB will be a better pick in the long run? Question 2: MariaDB is pitched as a drop-in replacement for MySQL. Does that mean I can make use of EzMySQL with it? Would it be as easy as just doing the same thing or would there be extra drama involved? Edit: Google is now in with MariaDB. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/08/08/google_backs_mariadb/ Edited August 8, 2013 by ineleganthack
Administrators Jon Posted August 10, 2013 Administrators Share Posted August 10, 2013 It should work fine. End-user code shouldn't see a difference.
