FileFindNextFile listing files like ~*.doc

Help (of course)

I have search for this problem but found nothing that seems to deal with it. Using the example from the FileFindNextFile help page as is I get the following listing for the 5 files in my directory.  All files  start with [ (except the 6th one which isn't even listed in the directory but was a file that was in the directory some time ago as 196_12_DM_1503.doc).  All listed files open in Word without a problem.

[2013]_UKUT_382.doc
~$013]_UKUT_313.doc
~$013]_UKUT_345.doc
~$013]_UKUT_356.doc

~$96_12_DM_1503.doc

I don't understand what your problem is! 

You have files in a directory which cannot be listed by using FileFindNextFile?

They look like temp files of some description. Check by using FileGetAttrib for whether the string contains H for hidden.

Compare the output with the result from your script.

have you activated "show hidden files and folders" in folder options -> view ? you should activate all show options, also for system files.

Seems that the other files are hidden and probably locked when you have opened it in word and cannot be read.

Those are temporary files that Word uses when you open the corresponding document in it. They're hidden by default, and unless you have show hidden files selected in Windows Explorer you won't see them in it, but the script will. BTW, Word is supposed to delete them when the document is closed, but it fails to do so a lot of times. They're usually safe to delete manually, unless you have a document open in Word at the time.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.
