skippynz
Hi everyone, Its been a while since i've been on here but couldnt think of a better place to get answers to my questions I have to try and read in the header information of a CD or DVD in binary. Basically i want to catch the first 880 bytes so i can get some info about the CD without having to open it up in a forensic application. the 880 bytes below will tell me the date that the cd was created, the software used to burn the cd, and the volume name if it has one. If someone can point in the direction of reading in the header i can work out the rest but i got stumped right out the gate. 01 43 44 30 30 31 01 00 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 57 49 4C 45 59 50 55 42 4C 49 53 48 49 4E 47 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 A0 D0 01 00 00 01 D0 A0 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 00 00 01 01 00 00 01 00 08 08 00 26 04 00 00 00 00 04 26 58 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 59 00 00 00 00 22 00 13 00 00 00 00 00 00 13 00 08 00 00 00 00 08 00 6D 09 19 0C 08 00 F0 02 00 00 01 00 00 01 01 00 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 4E 45 52 4F 20 42 55 52 4E 49 4E 47 20 52 4F 4D 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 32 30 30 39 30 39 32 35 31 32 30 38 30 30 30 30 F0 32 30 30 39 30 39 32 35 31 32 30 3830 30 30 30 30 00 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 PS im dont want anyone to write the script for me just a gentle nudge in the right direction would be great. kylomas
skippynz, This is a way to read raw data from a DASD device. I got this somewhere off the forum but do not remember where. expandcollapse popup#RequireAdmin #AutoIt3Wrapper_UseX64=n #include <WinAPI.au3> $sFileName = "\\.\PhysicalDrive0"; $iCreation = 2; OPEN_EXISTING $iAccess = 2; GENERIC_READ $iShare = 2+4; FILE_SHARE_READ + FILE_SHARE_WRITE $hFile = _WinAPI_CreateFile($sFileName, $iCreation, $iAccess, $iShare) If @error Or $hFile = Ptr(0) Then $str = "Could not open file "&$sfilename&@CRLF $str &= "Error: "&@error&@CRLF $str &= "Handle: "&$hFile MsgBox(0,"Error: _WinAPI_CreateFile",$str) Exit EndIf MsgBox(0,"Success: _WinAPI_CreateFile ","Handle: "&$hFile) _WinAPI_SetFilePointer($hFile,0); Beginning of file If @error Then MsgBox(0,"Error: _WinAPI_SetFilePointer",StringFormat("Could not move pointer. (Error %d)\n",@error)) EndIf Global $nBytesReceived $tBuffer = DllStructCreate("byte[512]") _WinAPI_ReadFile($hFile, DllStructGetPtr($tBuffer,1), 512, $nBytesReceived) If @error Then MsgBox(0,"Error: _WinAPI_ReadFile",StringFormat("Could not read file.
