What's wrong with my RegExp?

I have this hyperlink from which I am trying to pull the URL.

<a href="http://www.autoitscript.com/autoit3/pcrepattern.html" target="_blank">here</a>

I made a function called RegExpStringBetween.

Func _RegExpStringBetween(Const $test, Const $start_pattern, Const $end_pattern)
    Local Const $start = StringRegExp($test, $start_pattern, 1)

    If @error Then Return SetError(1, 0, False)

    Local Const $end = StringRegExp($test, $end_pattern, 1)

    If @error Then Return SetError(2, 0, False)

    Local Const $string_between = _StringBetween($test, $start[0], $end[0])

    Switch @error
        Case 0
            Return $string_between[0]
        Case 1
            Return SetError(3, 0, False)
    EndSwitch
EndFunc

And I call it like this:

Local Const $html_link_begin = "<a href="""

Local Const $html_link = _RegExpStringBetween($line, $html_link_begin, "[\s]?""( target=""_blank"")?>[\w\d]*</a>")

Which works!  The problem I am having is when I replace the "[wd]*" with "[:alnum:]*".  Then nothing is returned.  Aren't those two the same thing?

It's also digits and underscore.

alnum does work as czardas pointed out: "[[:alnum:]]"

From help file:

[:class:] Match a character in the given class of characters. Valid classes are: alpha (any alphabetic character), alnum (any alphanumeric character), lower (any lower-case letter), upper (any upper-case letter), digit (any decimal digit 0-9), xdigit (any hexadecimal digit, 0-9, A-F, a-f), space (any whitespace character), blank (only a space or tab), print (any printable character), graph (any printable character except spaces), cntrl (any control character [ascii 127 or <32]) or punct (any punctuation character). So [0-9] is equivalent to [[:digit:]].

I guess I got confused about the double brackets.   Nothing on the left hand side of the chart says anything about double brackets.

I've just read the revised copy of StringRegExp() and I have to say it's pretty detailed, but not "in your face" as you might think. Of course it's going to confuse a newbie, but then regular expressions aren't for the faint of heart.

This wonderful site allows debugging and testing regular expressions (many flavors available). An absolute must have in your bookmarks.
Another excellent RegExp tutorial. Don't forget downloading your copy of up-to-date pcretest.exe and pcregrep.exe here
RegExp tutorial: enough to get started
PCRE v8.33 regexp documentation latest available release and currently implemented in AutoIt beta.

SQLitespeed is another feature-rich premier SQLite manager (includes import/export). Well worth a try.
SQLite Expert (freeware Personal Edition or payware Pro version) is a very useful SQLite database manager.
An excellent eBook covering almost every aspect of SQLite3: a must-read for anyone doing serious work.
SQL tutorial (covers "generic" SQL, but most of it applies to SQLite as well)

This is great jchd, I'll give a detailed read when I get to work, but looking over it real quick this morning, "Quantifiers and greediness" section and "Anchors and assertions" section have cleared up a lot for me.
