verifying if inherited permissions is checked

I would like to modify permissions on folder and then reset them.

I can do this with permissions UDF

but inherit permissons is not checked

There is a function to reset tree permissions.

I do not want to reset tree permisions, unless it was already set.

I could not find a way to do this, anyone have any ideas?
