Pmonty
Using this Script ; Runs from a desktop shortcut so that I can set the proper credentials for the program ShellExecute("C:\Documents and Settings\MyAccount\Desktop\MyProgram.lnk") ; The script stops here. Using StumpIT's debugger, it shows no error that I can see but it just pauses ; Wait for the lnk to execute and present the dialogue window asking for credentials WinWait("Run As", "", 5) ; Activate the Dialogue Window WinActivate("Run As") ; Enable the credentials controls in the dialogue window ControlClick ("Run As", "", "[CLASS:Button; INSTANCE:3]") ; Enter the right password for in the editbox ControlSend("Run As", "", "[CLASS:Edit; INSTANCE:2]", "MyPassword") ; Click ok to run the program with the different credentials ControlClick ("Run As", "", "[CLASS:Button; INSTANCE:5]") The script pauses after it executes the shortcut. The shortcut is setup to ask for different credentials so a dialogue window opens titled "Run As". I am trying to click a button that enables the controls for entering account and password credentials and then to click OK. But the script just pauses without interacting with any of the controls in the dialogue window. Any suggestions? Pmonty
BrewManNH
Is this a UAC security prompt you're trying to automate? If so, you can't script it, it won't accept any automation attempts. That would kind of defeat the purpose of it if you could. If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day. Pmonty
BrewManNH, No, Not a UAC issue. I am running XP. And I don't think it violates the point of the security prompt since I have to know and enter the password to run the program from the dialogue. I just can't figure out why this window seems not to accept any script commands. The net effect is the script hangs at the shellexecute() command. Pmonty
OK, I solved this with the RunAs() function. That gets me around the credentials dialogue window issue. Not sure why I didn't see that option to begin with. Thanks for the suggestions. Pmonty
