hello community I am new to auto it  I find the syntax examples very self explanatory but finding the information about the way they work is not so easy

I.E SendKeyDownDelay seams to send the key press only when released information more useful before trying to use it rather than in the fault finding

also I have another topic I wish to close with no understanding on how to do so

Best way to get help is to describe what you try to achieve, what you have coded so far and the problems you have.

i have coded nothing so far the goal i have set myself is to control my rc helicopter but when looking at what tools i can use i found that the Opt("SendKeyDownDelay", $var) is not helpful

when i press turn left on my phone my comp only sends 1 turn left signal  rather than turn left until user release's key i can get some code together and post if that would be more useful

No question is stupid.

Maybe you need to reduce the delay between key sends.

AutoItSetOption("SendKeyDelay", 0)

thank you john i did try to put it in a loop but the frequency of signals just makes it look like it turns left with Tourette's

thankyou for you help sorry for the stupid question

He wasn't telling you to put it in a loop, he was telling you the commands you'd use to simulate how to keep a key pressed. You need to code it so that if you're pushing a key down to have the a key pressed down, and when you release the key, send a key up command.

BTW, don't use the "a" as the key to send and the key to press to send that key, because you're going to create an endless loop that way. :)

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

Actually, I just tried The Send("{a down}") and it never acted like I expected, which was to spam the letter a.

Although I've never had call to use it in reality it surprised me.
