Context menu > Edit - how to open in SCITE?

I'm an AutoIt novice, so please excuse this very basic query. If I right-click an .AU3 file (on my XP PC) the first few items in the context menu are:

Run Script

Compile with Options

Edit Script

Open

Choosing  Edit Script opens it in my text editor, TextPad. How can I get that to open it with SCITE instead please?

in SciTE push CTRL+1

this open SciTE Config

there are that option:

Explorer AU3 File setting.

Choose Default action for Au3 files:

Edit

Run

 

EDIT:

or just reinstall:

Thanks for the fast reply. But I want d-click to run the script, as it does now, not open SCITE.

And I updated to the latest 3.3.0.0 version of SCITE earlier today.

Maybe this is not something that's controlled by either AutoIt setup or SCITE setup?

Right click on the .au3 file, Open With>>Choose a Default Program... Choose SciTE and then check the box Always use the selected program to open this kind of file.

try to reinstall AutoIt 3.3.8.1

and 

SciTE4AutoIT

 

during the installation process, you can choose the default system shell

choose "Run" as the default

Did you even try this?! In SciTE, when I go to Tools>>SciTE Config (CTRL + 1) and change the default action from Edit to Run, and then right click on the .au3 file and choose Open With>>Choose a Program>>SciTE and check the always use the selected program checkbox, it gives me just the behavior you're asking for - when I double click it runs the script and when I right click and choose Edit it opens it in SciTE.

So if you're not seeing this, instead of saying "doesn't work" how about explaining what behavior you are seeing? Help us help you.

@JLoga3013: Yes, I did attempt to try mlipok's instructions, although they were rather unclear to me.

I've also just tried your more detailed and clear instructions but they don't give the result I want, as you see:

This first shows what I see when I use Open with... on an AU3 file:

 

 

That now has two unwanted results from the context menu rather than the one I started with, so I've changed back to the previous status.

It's no great hardship - I'd just like Edit to edit with SciTE. I do so now with one extra click, i.e. Open with... > SciTE

I'm also pursuing the possibility that this may be either a TextPad or XP setting, although the reply I had from TextPad's author (I emailed him before posting here) included this:

"AutoIt is not a program I have ever used, but I would expect this to be one of its own configuration settings, rather than a file association in XP or TextPad.  That's the way I've seen it done in other applications."

I thought I'd better reboot my PC although I didn't expect that to make any difference - but it did!

This is now the context menu:

 

So I can now edit the script with a single click of Open, thanks.

Still curious why I can't get the Edit menu to do that though!
