Why is PixelGetColor slow in windows 8?

I have made a script on a windows XP-64 machine were the corner of an edge is located with the following script

$col=PixelGetColor(1,500)
 $x=1
While PixelGetColor($x,500)==$col
    $x+=1
WEnd

$y=500
$col=PixelGetColor($x,$y)
While PixelGetColor($x,$y)==$col
    $y-=1
WEnd

The code works as follow :

- Get background color

- Check pixel to right

- On color change, while ends

- Look up color of the window border

- Walk up until top left border if found.

On my old windows XP machine, this script runs in milliseconds, like it's supposed to. On a brand new windows 8 pc, it takes up to 10 seconds to complete this code. Anyone knows why?

Sgrovert,

Last free-throw gamebot thread. Open another one and you will be sanctioned.

Discussions have shown that this is not for a game-bot - thread re-opened. :)

Sgrovert,

Have you followed JohnOne's advice and tried turning off Aero or any other theme? Themes are known to have a pretty dreadful effect on PixelSearch performance. :huh:

I went to Control Panel -> System -> Advanced system settings

And set "visual effect" to "Adjust for best performance"

It didn't solve the problem.

The windows 8 machine was installed 3 days ago, and allmost all setting are still at default.

No Idea how to do then I'm afraid.

It just sounded awfully familiar to problems people have had with win 7 also.

EDIT:

Here is first thing I found about it in quick search
