Can't get rid of msgbox

Hello -

I'm trying to use Autoit to do an update of software and at the very end of the update process a message box comes up, followed by a second as soon as you click "ok" on the first.

In my autoit script I used

winwait("title")
send("{ENTER}")
sleep(5000)
send("{ENTER}")

which it works up to the first send and closes that msgbox but the second send never seems to send ENTER. The msgbox is active already and the "OK" button has focus.

I've tried controlclick and also tried doing

send("!{F4}")

but for some reason it won't do anything for that second message.

Is there something else I could be trying?

Which program do you try to update? Most installation programs accept command line switches for a silent install.

Actually, I work for the company that makes the software so unfortunately I know for a fact that we don't have the silent option.

Does it make much sense that none of that would work? When the msgbox is visible it doesn't prevent you from clicking on anything else on the computer. I thought that might be an issue too but it's not.

You sould use AutoIt Window Info to get informations about this box, and prefer to use ControlClick instead of Send.

In this case I wouldn't use Send but ControlSend or ControlClick.

I've tried using controlclick as well and it doesn't seem to like the control info. I'm using:

controlclick("title","OK",2,"left",1,23,7)

It doesn't click on it either. I've also tried using the "advanced mode" value for the title but again, nothing.

controlclick("[CLASS:Button; INSTANCE:1]","OK",2,"left",1,23,7)

For controlsend I used:

controlsend("[CLASS:Button; INSTANCE:1]","OK,2,"{ENTER}","")

Still nothing. Is my syntax wrong? I seem to have all the info but it doesn't matter.

Could you try:

controlclick("title","",2,"left")

"title" is the title of the window.

Hm no that isn't working either...

I tried using the actual title and the "advanced mode" title.
