Hi Auto IT help & support

1. i want to run the for loop on an array
2. the array can contain multiple files
3. from those files 2 names are known to the programmer
4. i want to compare those 2 names with the array
5. and then want to store that location into some other variable, to use the location of that file

i have written some code but it is not working ,

local $64bit = "file1_\d+\.\d+\.\d+\.\d+_x64.msi"
local $32bit = "file2_\d+\.\d+\.\d+\.\d+.msi"
local $imax
Local $i
Local $b1
Local $b2

Local $sFileList = _FileListToArray($sPath)  ; $sPath is the path of a folder which has four files

    If IsArray($sFileList) Then
        $imax =UBound($sFileList)
        For $i = 1 to $imax - 1
        $b1 = StringRegExp($sFileList[$i],$64bit,1)
        If @error == 0  Then
        $Name64bit = $sFileList[$i]
        EndIf
        $b2 = StringRegExp($sFileList[$i],$32bit,1)
        If @error == 0  Then
        $Name32bit = $sFileList[$i]
        EndIf
        Next
    EndIf

please provide some help

What isn't working?

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

You test @error instead of $b1 and $b2. Re-read help file.

Your script can surely be made more efficient but its goal is currently unclear.

Hi All,

I have executed the same code and it working, but i just want to understand that why it is printing the value for variable $b2 first. and then it prints $b1

local $64bit = "file1_\d+\.\d+\.\d+\.\d+_x64.msi"
local $32bit = "file2_\d+\.\d+\.\d+\.\d+.msi"
local $imax
Local $i
Local $b1
Local $b2

Local $sFileList = _FileListToArray($sPath)  ; $sPath is the path of a folder which has four files

    If IsArray($sFileList) Then
        $imax =UBound($sFileList)
        For $i = 1 to $imax - 1
        $b1 = StringRegExp($sFileList[$i],$64bit,1)
        If @error == 0  Then
    MsgBox(0,0,$b1[0])
        $Name64bit = $sFileList[$i]
        EndIf
        $b2 = StringRegExp($sFileList[$i],$32bit,1)
        If @error == 0  Then
         MsgBox(0,0,$b2[0])
        $Name32bit = $sFileList[$i]
        EndIf
        Next
    EndIf

; value for variable $b2 is printed first instead of $b1 , however it should first print $b1 and then $b2
; can you please explain why it happening so

What makes you believe it does $b2 before $b1?

Hint: think about the order of files from different perspectives!

Do you really need these variables $b1 and $b2 ?

Local $Name64bit, $Name32bit
    If IsArray($sFileList) Then
        For $i = 1 to $sFileList[0]
          If StringRegExp($sFileList[$i], $64bit) Then $Name64bit = $sFileList[$i]
          If StringRegExp($sFileList[$i], $32bit) Then $Name32bit = $sFileList[$i]
        Next
    EndIf
