ITSCSteve
I'm trying to move some directories as part of a function built into a button. I'm designing a remote tool for troubleshooting a problem, and I can file move no problem. The directories though, have a unique name for each end user machine, based on their login name. The only static part of the folder is ".ft" at the end. What I am wondering is, can DirMove take a wildcard? Like "C:Example*.ft" ? Or does anyone have some suggestions? Moderators Melba23 Posted October 17, 2013 Moderators Share Posted October 17, 2013 ITSCSteve,Having done what you could have done before posting and written a small script to test, it seems that DirMove does not accept wildcards. So I suggest you use my RecFileListToArray UDF (or the _FileListToArrayRec function in the Beta) - the function does accept wildcards and so it will return the list of "*.ft" folders. Then you can loop through the array and use DirMove on the individual folders. ITSCSteve
Yes, I had tried it first before posting, but wanted to figure out if it was an issue in the code, or that it just doesn't take wildcards. Thank you for the array suggestion, I will look into it
Moderators Melba23 Posted October 17, 2013 Moderators Share Posted October 17, 2013 ITSCSteve,You should have said so - I would not have been so sharp then. Do come back if you run into any problems getting the UDF to work.
