You need to add some error checking to your code! Is MyFunc called at all? Does your Pen always get drive letter "F:"? Does _WordCreate return any errors?

HarshChaturvedi,

The code you posted fails due to obj create failure.  I'm not sure why.  When you move the WORD func outside of MyFunc it works.  This is a better practice anyway as you want to exit registered functions as soon as possible.  I got it to run like this...

#include <Word.au3>

$DBT_DEVICEARRIVAL = "0x00008000"
$WM_DEVICECHANGE = 0x0219
local $open

GUICreate("")

GUIRegisterMsg($WM_DEVICECHANGE, "MyFunc")

Func MyFunc($hWndGUI, $MsgID, $WParam, $LParam)

    If $WParam == $DBT_DEVICEARRIVAL Then
        $open = true
    EndIf

EndFunc   ;==>MyFunc

While 1

    $GuiMsg = GUIGetMsg()

    if $open then
        Global $WordApp = _WordCreate("j:\testfile.doc", 1)
    endif

    if $open then $open = false

WEnd

note - my thumb drive was device "J:"
