Scottamus
I've created a simple GUI with checkboxes. I want the script to run programs based on which boxes are checked. I've sifted through the forums and Wiki pages, and honestly I'm overwhelmed with the different ways it seems possible to make this happen. I'm new to scripting and have very limited knowledge, so I"m looking for the simplest approach. I don't expect you to write it for me, but I would like some good solid direction on how to get this done. Thanks so much in advance for your time. I've added enough to your code to get it to run and handle one of the checkboxes. See comments in code... edit: not sure what's going on with this editor...it's placing the code and response out of order... Scottamus
Thanks for the suggestions and examples! I'll give it a go. I'm sure I may have more questions once I start getting into it. Thanks a bunch though.
Scottamus
Ok. I guess I need to clarify what I'm wanting the script to do. I want the user to open the GUI then check the boxes of the software to be installed, then when the start button is pressed I want the script to querry which boxes are checked and start the installation of the software packages one at a time, moving from one checkbox to the next, with the progress bar showing approximate completion of the operations selected. I am fully aware that I'm in over my head here. I am learning quickly, but with no previous knowledge of scripting or programming, and with limited time to be able to dedicate to this, I'm struggling to grasp all of the concepts at once. So, I appologize for my inefficiency at being able to use more appropriate terms.

Scottamus
That worked like a charm. I'll have to figure out something to measure the progress against, but really that's just for aesthetic reasons and isn't necessary. If you have any ideas I'd love to hear them. Basically as each checked box's operation is completed (normally a program installation) the progress bar would advance.
