Hi

 

I am doing some TCP communication with AutoIt, and I wonder:

What is being done behind the TCPStartUp() and TCPShutdown() functions?

I ask this because in other programming languages that I used, I did not have to do such a thing in the beginning and in the end..

To put it really really simply is creates and closes a handle to the Win32 "TCP related" API functions.

May I sugegst to AutoIt developers to hide those 2  functions?

It can be done if AutoIt will use Singleton to call TCPStartUp(),

and call TCPShutdown() on script exit..

I don't believe AutoIt should hold your hand that much when coding.

sorry for the intrusion....

I would like to ask if is okay to call TCPStartUp() only works once at the beginning of the script, then use network functions within the whole script, and only close once with TCPShutdown() on exit?

or you need to call it several times, also internally to functions? (is TCPStartUp() global or local scope?)

As Zohar said, if you're using the TCP functions just call at the start of your script and then at the end, OnAutoItExitRegister() is always a good choice too.
