WingetTitle does not return what is actually displayed in the titlebar

Im not sure how to accurately say this.  I have a vendor application that I need to return the window title on.  However, when I do, it shows a different title...almost as if what I see is an overlay.

For instance....

What I see is something like this   "Vendor - Application Name (OEM) [John Smith Logged in]"

WingetTitle returns  "Vendor - Application Name - Studies"

Would there be a way for be to read this overlay that I see?

More than likely it's impossible to extract (using the Win32 API.)

I would say the way to test is to try a WinGetTitle on the additional portion. If the window title is:

"Vendor - Application Name (OEM) [John Smith Logged in]"

And this returns nothing...

Opt("WinTitleMatchMode", 2)

WinGetTitle("John Smith", "")



...I would say it is a good bet you're SOL. :)

It looks like that the title text is owner drawn with GDI(Plus). So you can not read out this text, because it's only a picture. If you realy need to do this you could try some OCR solution (tesseract UDF) or maybe just use PixelgetColor to know if there is text at the pixel position.
