How to find the latest version available for download?

I'm trying to write a script which checks 5 particular programs to see whether I have the latest versions. If there is a newer version then I'll download and run the update.

I'd rather not download the update first and use filegetversion on the downloaded file... Is there a way of reading the file version from the download page? Thanks.

Thanks orbs, I had read that before and it didn't seem to work for me - but this morning I've seen the light. :) It was the fact that the variable that is read is an array that I'd missed.

Thanks for your interest, JLogan...
