Unwanted characters after running Tidy

I have a script I am currently working on using SciTE and every so often run Tidy to keep everything neat. On certain occasions the script is altered and the top 8 lines are replaced by other text.

 I assume the text is related to the workings of how Tidy does its thing but I don't know why it is altering the script.

Below is the text that the 8 lines are overwritten with

Does anybody have any ideas?

I am using :-

SciTE Version 3.2.0,   Jun  9 2012 00:35:28

Tidy Version 2.2.2.0

I have never had this problem with any other scripts.

Have you tried the latest version of Tidy to see if that solves your issue?

Provide a reproducer script to test with when that doesn't solve it.

Yep thanks Jos. v2.4.0.0 does not add the extra text
