Need Assistance

First let me start by saying i am a completly noob at this i was hoping to get some support with a simple script (atleast i see it as it should be easy)

i have a table with 2 columns A and B both are filled with data for about 400 lines. i just need a simple script that you will have a box in it that you will input data from Column A and it will output a message or it will have 2 boxes and when you type the text from line A it will output the text from line B

Example:

A-------B

mike-----john

david----chris

Steve----angel

 

if you input david it will output chris.

 

i hope its not a big complicated task to ask from someone.

We do not write scripts to order, we help you get your scripts running correctly. Think of the old saying: "Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day; give a man a net and you feed him forever". We try to be net makers and repairers, not fishmongers.

As you are a beginner (and no problem there as we all were at one point) reading the Help file (at least the first few sections - Using AutoIt, Tutorials and the first couple of References) will help you enormously. You should also look at this excellent tutorial - you will find other tutorials in the Wiki (the link is at the top of the page). There are even video tutorials on YouTube if you prefer watching to reading.

If it is excel then just use a formula to do it and keep it all in Excel.

If your values are not in Excel you can also use a data dictionary:

$dict = ObjCreate("Scripting.Dictionary")
$dict.Add("David","Chris") 
dim $itemDemo = $dict.Item("David")   ;Get the item.
MsgBox("","this is the value for David",$itemDemo)

@ Melba23. i understand that and i will try making something on my own. thanks alot for the info.

@MBALZESHARI. i need it to work as a program and not as an excel function. 

@Jfish its so much data in both columns that it must be saved on a file. but thanks for the advice ill try using it in other stuff

Hmmm, there must have been a miscommunication because somebody threw the net over me while I was distracted.
