using AutoItX in java

maybe i'm missing the obvious, but what exactly does it do? enable AutoIt scripts to be run by JRE? or expose Java capabilities to be used by AutoIt?

You can use

  Win.activate(title) or Win.activate(title, text) to active window in java,

and also

Win.getProcess(title) or Win.getProcess(title, text) to retrieve the process of the window,

Win.move(title), or Win.move(title, text) to move a window.

  Control.setText(title, controlId, controlText) to sets text of a control, etc.

so my script is able to handle Java app as any normal window? that looks pretty cool! i tried in the past to automate a Java app, and practically spit sweat over it... is it too bold of me to ask for a brief how-to setup? what file(s) to download and where do they go, what needs to be installed (if at all), etc.

Download JAutoItX-3.3.8.1-1.0.0-alpha.jar from http://code.google.com/p/jautoitx/downloads/list

and add all dependent libs:

commons-collections-3.2.1.jar

commons-io-2.4.jar

commons-lang3-3.1.jar

log4j-1.2.17.jar

jna-4.0.0.jar

jna-platform-4.0.0.jar

 

to your classpath.

 

They are included in JAutoItX-3.3.8.1-1.0.0-alpha-all.jar.

Orbs, this is just a wrapper for AutoItX, which is a COM/dll wrapper for a small handful of AutoIt functions. It does not add the ability to run scripts and it doesn't allow you to automate windows you couldn't before.
