Hello,

I have this small function to generate different words.

Local $sFile = @DesktopDir & "\test.txt"

Any ideas how to make generate only words that haven't been generated previously and don't exist in the the file?

I made this for the moment but if i save the file every time i use it for the next use, after some thousands of lines it will get really heavy and it will take very long time + a lot of cpu usage.

I don't know if it is better. If i read the file to an array then i will have to loop the array inside my for loop everytime time which means if my for loop is 100 loops and the file is 10000 lines it makes 1000000 loops which will take much longer than what it takes now. StringInStr wont work with _FileReadToArray

Edit: FileReadLine returns an array, i will give that a go

Hello,

I am just generating some random names and then use them to save files. For the filecreate i have created a function and it is not in pure autioit which mean i can't check for errors and if the file exists it will crash my project. I just want to avoid this. And since they are trash files i need random names not something like name, name1, name2 etc.

However this is only a test i haven't made up something yet.

Anyway the files the project will create wont be more than 100 so i will take the solution in #post 2 since it returns in 1-2 seconds

I thought that might be the case - have you looked at the _TempFile function in the Help file? :huh:

 

"Generate a name for a temporary file. The file is guaranteed not to exist yet."

No point in reinventing the wheel. ;)

Yes i understand. If i use _TempFile then i would have to split it and turn it to array so i could use every part of it. I prefere using @path + $name + $prefix so i dont have to split them everytime.

I know, you're creating random strings, but why not just generate the "temp file" when you need it?
