halida Posted January 13, 2014 Share Posted January 13, 2014 Hi, I'm new in Autoit, and found writing a script for long installation process is painful. The development process is like this: - step1: go through install process, write script accordingly. - step2: run script, wait the long process.., halt, and debug. - step3: goto step2, till everything is alright. Huge Time waste. So I think there are better ways: Create a autoit interpreter, write script and debug it step by step, like this: > Run('notepad.exe') > WinWaitActive('Untitled - Notepadsss') # not focus on the window > WinWaitActive('Untitled - Notepad') # it works! Any idea? And another issue: I found it is hard to locate the wrong script line, is there anyway I can "step run" script? Thanks~ Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

iamtheky Posted January 13, 2014 Share Posted January 13, 2014 How do you suppose its going to know the name of the particular window you are waiting for, such that it could tell you your string was incorrect? ,-. .--. ________ .-. .-. ,---. ,-. .-. .-. .-. |(| / /\ \ |\ /| |__ __||| | | || .-' | |/ / \ \_/ )/ (_) / /__\ \ |(\ / | )| | | `-' | | `-. | | / __ \ (_) | | | __ | (_)\/ | (_) | | .-. | | .-' | | \ |__| ) ( | | | | |)| | \ / | | | | | |)| | `--. | |) \ | | `-' |_| (_) | |\/| | `-' /( (_)/( __.' |((_)-' /(_| '-' '-' (__) (__) (_) (__) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

halida Posted January 13, 2014 Author Share Posted January 13, 2014 How do you suppose its going to know the name of the particular window you are waiting for, such that it could tell you your string was incorrect? The point is, use interpreter, I can shrink "edit, run, debug" circle, make development faster. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
iamtheky Posted January 14, 2014 Share Posted January 14, 2014 (edited) Fair enough, but even then it could only tell you how long WinWaitActive waited without that window appearing; and you would have to add that parameter, because there is no failure of WinWaitActive in your scenario, it just continues waiting.
