Alternative to GUICtrlSetGraphic.

Recommended Posts

Hey folks.

Brand new to the forum.

Been writing AutoIt for many years,

though never really delved into the complex bits.

The problem I'm having today is that I need to grab a rectangle from the screen and place it in a control in my GUI.

Currently I'm using _ScreenCapture_CaptureWnd to grab the rectangle,

and GuiCtrlCreateGraphic / GUICtrlSetGraphic to display the captured pixels.

Loading the Graphic control one pixel at a time is taking way too long for the cycle time required.

So I am hoping to find a quicker mechanism.

I do not need to have access to the individual pixels.

I looked at GUICtrlCreatePic, but it draws from a an external file rather than a screen shot or bitmap.

Any advise or direction would be appreciated.

Thanks.

fortress,

Welcome to the AutoIt forum. :)

This code shows how to display a screengrab in a GUI. Use the mouse to size and move the rectange and then right-click in it to capture and display:

#include <GuiConstantsEx.au3>
#include <WindowsConstants.au3>
#Include <ScreenCapture.au3>

Global $hCapture_GUI
; Set distance from edge of Capture_GUI where resizing is possible
Global Const $iMargin = 4
; Set max and min Capture_GUI sizes
Global Const $iGUIMinX = 50, $iGUIMinY = 50, $iGUIMaxX = @DesktopWidth - 100, $iGUIMaxY = @DesktopHeight - 100

Note that it does save the screengrab to file - but that can just be deleted once used. Please ask if you have any questions. :)
