jack71
I might be biting off more than I can chew but I need help with a function that will recursively search all folders and files from a given directory, compare the current time to last modified time of the file in hours, then delete the files older than x hours. #include <file.au3> #include <date.au3> $FCleanUp = _FileListToArrayRec("F:", "*", 0, 1, 0) If @error Then Exit ; $lastmodtime = FileGetTime($FCleanup[0]) ?? How do you have all the files in $FCleanUp to be parsed? ;$currenttime = NowTime.....Get the current time in 24 hour format If _DateDiff("h", $currentttime, $lastmodtime) > 13 Then ;; If the file is older than 13 hours then... FileDelete DirDelete if empty and files inside are older than 13 hours. Any help would be appreciated, can't wrap my brain around this atm. Moderators Melba23 Posted February 12, 2014 Moderators Share Posted February 12, 2014 jack71,This is how I would do it. Get a list of the files using _FileListToArrayRec. Then loop through the returned array, check the timestamp for each file using FileGetTime & _DateDiff, and delete with FileDelete if required. Then get a sorted list of the folders by using _FileListToArrayRec again with new parameters and loop through that from the bottom up deleting any empty ones. You could try to be clever and check the folders as you go along, but this 2-pass method is simpler:)Note the bolded text - you need to empty the folders from within otherwise the outside ones will not be empty when you check them.
