For some reason when you run (I had to use ShellExecute to get it to run on Vista) osk.exe the PID returned is not the PID showing in Task Manager. Not sure where the PID returned is coming from, that does get returned by ShellExecute.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

What OS and AutoIt are you using? That works fine for me in WIN7 x64 with 3.3.10.0, using both Run and ShellExecute.

It would not work for me either in Win 7 x64 using 3.3.10.0 or 3.3.11.2. I could get it to close using ProcessClose("osk.exe") though.

That is really odd. This is exactly what I am running, from your OP, and it closes for me just fine, unless I am completely misunderstanding what you're after.

$OSK_PID = Run("osk.exe")
Sleep(5000)
ProcessClose($OSK_PID)

could you try this?

_Wow64FsRedirection(False)
$OSK_PID = Run("osk.exe")
_Wow64FsRedirection(True)
Sleep(5000)
ProcessClose($OSK_PID)
If @error Then MsgBox(0, 0, @error)

Func _Wow64FsRedirection($state)
; Disables or reverts the filesystem redirector for a 32 bit process running on 64bit OS
    If Not @AutoItX64 And @OSArch = 'X64' Then
        If $state Then
            DllCall("kernel32.dll", "int", "Wow64RevertWow64FsRedirection", "int", 0)
        Else
            DllCall("kernel32.dll", "int", "Wow64DisableWow64FsRedirection", "int", 0)
        EndIf
    EndIf
EndFunc   ;==>_Wow64FsRedirection
