Tera Term -- how to filter text out of a file the right way?

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

i'm currently forced to adapt a rather old-fashioned script based on "procomm plus" to Tera Term. Unfortunately, despite a really impressive documentation i can't find a solution for my problem. That's why i'm asking the members of this forum for help.

I'm trying the following:

1. I get a search string 'inputstr' via the inputBox

2. I read in a text-file, line by line, with "filereadln" into the variable 'data'

3. And i know how to find the pattern of the inputstr inside data with "strmatch".

So far so good. Up to here i've come and it works. Now i have to filter. Which means:

4. If 'data' contains 'inputstr' then the phone number has to be extracted and put into another variable. And this is the point where i don't know how to succeed.

The lines of the text file have the following repetitive pattern:

<numeric line identifier>;<phone number>;;;<data description>

Can anybody give me a hint, how to tell Tera Term to filter exactly the phone number when there is a matching identifier?

Thanks in advance!

regards

diabolik

diabolik,

Welcome to the AutoIt forum. :)

That sounds like a pretty easy task for a Regex - something like this should work:

$sLine = "<numeric line identifier>;<phone number>;;;<data description>"

$sNumber = StringRegExpReplace($sLine, ".*;<(.*)>;;;.*", "$1")

MsgBox(0, "Hi", $sNumber)
Any use? :)

Hello M23

Unfortunately, there seems to be a lot more i have to learn about Tera Term syntax. How do I initialise those variables like $sLine and $sNumber? I allways run into an error.  :o(

Here's my source code so far:

########################################

; this is the inputBox for the searchString
;
inputbox 'identifier:' 'enter the indentifier'

; write the result in the system variable inputstr
;
sendln inputstr

; debug-box
;
messagebox inputstr 'entered string'

; this is the file to be searched in
;
filename = 'numberBox.txt'

; this is the command to access the file
;
fileopen fhandle filename 0

; starting a loop. the loop will be stopped when the file's end is reached or a match occurrs.
;
:loop

; start reading line by line
;
filereadln fhandle data

; search in the current line for the entered identifier
;
$sLine = data   <---- BANG

$sNumber = StringRegExpReplace($sLine, ".*;<(.*)>;;;.*", "$1")

MsgBox(0, "Hi", $sNumber)

; if the file's end is reached, leave the loop and close the file
;
if result goto fclose

; loop. read the next line.

;
goto loop

; close the file
;
:fclose
fileclose fhandle

########################################

Sorry! I'm quit new to scripting...

regards

Diabolik

How do you imagine mixing AutoIt statements inside a Tera Term script?

diabolik,

That is AutoIt code and this is a forum which helps you code in the AutoIt language - which is what I assumed you wanted to do. Now I have googled around a bit, it seems you are using Tera Term's own macro languge - so I suggest you post on a Tera Term forum. :)

This is autoit, not C or C++ or anything else.

I suggest that every time you ant to write something into your code, like fclose or goto, you search for it in the help file, they wont be there, meaning they do not exist in autoit.
