TraySetIcon issue. I know I'm missing something small

Recommended Posts

guys,

I know this is probably something very very small but, I can't figure this out. I've looked in the help file and I can use the example and it works fine. I know I'm missing something or don't quite understand it.

If I have a icon that is saved as my.ico in a file path similar to this C:mydocumentsiconmy.ico. Can I not just pass the path to the file in the first parameter for TraySetIcon??

Something like this

TraySetIcon("C:mydocumentsiconmy.ico")

Run my script from SCiTE and it show in the icon tray??

When I use the example in the help file like this

TraySetIcon("Shell32.dll", 10)

It shows the selected  icon. What am I missing??

RickB75,

Check out the icon you are using in an icon editor - you might have some corrupted or non-standard sized images within it. :)

Thanks John for confirming that it works for me. I was about to go crazy yesterday.  You know those times when you want to strangle your monitor. I was at that point yesterday.

Melba - I think your right. I will look at the file and make sure it's built correctly.

I'll give you guys an update here shortly.

Ok guys. Melba, you are correct!!! I was using a corrupt ico file. I downloaded the correct plugin for photoshop, saved the image correctly and it worked like a charm.

Now that I have it working correctly, I think I'm going to play around with the loop example in the help and make some animated tray icons
